COVID and then more than 130mm falling in the days didn't deter organisers and teams from forging ahead with the 2022 Cootamundra Unisex Touch Football carnival.

"One of the main reasons we pushed ahead was because of money it brought in to town," organising committee member Tish McTavish said.
"With 20 teams taking part, eating and drinking, paying for petrol and staying at local hotels it's a great influx into the economy," she said.
Teams travelled from as far as Sydney and Canberra to take part in the carnival across four grades with Sydney side RAMP Financial taking out the top grade.
Their opponents were Canberra team The Flying P with the Sydneysiders running out 8-4 winners.
In A Reserve grade the winners were Wagga Wagga side One More Year who prevailed 6-5 over Albury side PRD.
B grade was taken out by CNC 11-3 over RSL Acca.
In C grade local side Last Minute were defeated 9-5 by Albury visitors Gooseys.
"One team actually gets here Wednesday and stays Wednesday to Sunday, they're long time supporters of the event," Ms McTavish said, explaining the economic importance of the event to Cootamundra.
"We were down on teams due to COVID and had us very concerned but we made a decision late Friday to go ahead.
"We made modifications to grounds, rotated some grounds and the main ground we usually used wasn't able to be used."
Despite this minor setbacks Ms McTavish described the carnival as an "overall success".
"Everybody was happy to have a little bit of normal in their lives, have fun and embrace the moment," she said.
"Events like our carnival would not go ahead without the long term sponsorship of our major sponsor the Coota Ex-services Club who have supported our event for the last 37 years and the South West Slopes Credit Union have been a sponsor for the last 14 years.
"Thanks also to Stuart Moorby and the Shire Council grounds staff who ensured our every needs were met to support our event.
"Overall a really successful event and lots of positives, everybody had a great time," she said.
