Each month the Coota BUG group (Bicycle Users Group) designate the last Saturday of each month a ‘long ride’ and for July it was decided that they head out to Stockinbingal via Berthong Road.
Leaving the post office in three groups the weather was not so nice with cold temperatures and thick fog, but once the group made it out towards the Ironbarks, the weather cleared and it was a good clear run into Stockinbingal.
Janelle Forsyth and Michelle Sutcliffe followed in a support vehicle with bike trailer in case of any breakdowns to persons or bikes but weren’t required and were surprised how quick the group got to the Stockinbingal township.
Once at their destination the group enjoyed refreshments at the local store and had a break before heading back over Stock Hill and into Cootamundra. Everyone enjoyed themselves and are now getting ready for their next big ride set down for Sunday, September 1 in the form of an 80 km ride from Stockinbingal to Temora and back.
BUG group member Rob Power said the ride was a great experience for a few of the new members who are new to the BUG group and haven’t done many long rides.
“The service and food at the Stockinbingal store was great, the weather turned out fine and the company was first class, each time you caught up with a different riding group, the conversation subject would be different from the last group. There was some friendly banter, all in good fun,” Rob said.
