So nice to chat to Margaret Smith this week and find out about the arrival of her latest granddaughter.
Jim and Tracey Smith, of Bondi, welcomed their daughter Avery Jewell into the world on February 16.
Delighting in Avery’s arrival are big brothers Austin and River.
CONGRATULATIONS to all.
BIRTHDAY GREETINGS
So nice to be wishing three of the nicest people a HAPPY BIRTHDAY -
Daphne Coady, of Wallendbeen, celebrated her birthday on Wednesday, tomorrow is the birthday of Frank Beath, then on Monday next Daphne’s husband Laurie will celebrate his birthday with family and friends.
NOELENE’S PASSING
Noelene June Fazio (Farrance) passed away on Tuesday, March 18. She was the sister of the late Darrell Fazio and a much loved sister-in-law of Vacy Fazio.
Noelene had many treasured memories of her times spent in Cootamundra and the many people she met whilst visiting here.
BIKE RIDERS IN TOWN
It has been a busy week with bike riders in town. We had the Snowy Hydro SouthCare fundraising Back 2 Base riders here in town for an overnight stay Wednesday (most certainly a worthy cause as one never knows when one may need to be transported to a major city).
Last weekend a group of 23 riders made Coota their base as they enjoyed riding around the district.
They stayed at the White Ibis and Elm & Wren, all voting these spots first-class places to ‘bunk down for the night’ after lengthy bike rides. (All good for our local economy.)
And the White Ibis will shortly host a dinner under the banner of “Farewell to Burrinjuck”. When one thinks back to the ‘old days’ of the electorate of Burrinjuck, memories flood back of the late Billy Sheahan and his son Terry, who between them held the seat for more years than I can remember.
WEEKEND HAPPENINGS -
This weekend is shaping up to be a busy one for locals with all the following events taking place -
This evening Blues @ the Arts Centre is on with doors opening at 6pm for a 7pm start.
Also the Sacred Heart Central School Twilight Fete is on, commencing ay 5pm.
Tomorrow the Wallendbeen Red Cross Centenary Family Fair takes place at the Barry Grace Oval, kicking off at 9.30am (If inclement weather go to the Wallendbeen Hall where ‘all the action’ will be taking place.)
Yandilla Mustard Oil Enterprises with Kay Weatherall, will be hosting a unique meal event there with Charmaine O’Brien tutoring all present how to ‘cook up an Indian storm! The time 7pm, bookings essential.
At the Ex-services Club a first-class evening of entertainment is assured with Errol Gray’s “Backyard Ballader” live show taking place.
All in all a busy weekend in Cootamundra.
