PETER Rickett was one proud father at the Blue and White Debutante Ball as daughter Milly made her debut. 
The Ball is an annual event put on the Cootamundra Rugby League Club and this year was held in the Town Hall. A strong crowd attended.

IT was a sea of Bulldogs volunteers behind the bar at the Blue and White Debutante Ball as committee members lent a hand to ensure no-one went thirsty. 
It is because of the dedicated effort of volunteers the Cootamundra Rugby League Club runs as successfully as it does.

IT is great to see local footy clubs get involved in the community.
The Cootamundra Rugby League Club started the trend this season cooking barbecues and manning bingo at the Southern Cross Retirement Village and the weekend before last the Aussie Rules boys showed their community spirit visiting residents at the Nursing Home. 
We hear residents had a great time chatting with the players and committee members and the experience was just as valuable for members of the Blues.

LAST Wednesday parts of Cootamundra looked more like the snowfields than our usual landscape with hail blanketing areas around the Pioneer Park end of town. 
This photo of Caroline Manwaring and grandson Oliver rugged up against the cold was taken on Back Brawlin Road. 
He might be young but this was a day for the history books for the adorable Oliver.

PROMOTING: One of the Cootamundra Bike Festival organisers Rob Power shows the jersey promoting the connection between Cootamundra and the Amy Gillett Foundation for this year’s event. 

 SLICE OF HISTORY: This cloth, believed to have once been used to cover the x-ray table in the old District Hospital, is embroidered with the name of Auxiliary members from the time it was made, around the 1950s. It was lost for many years and only last year was handed back to the hospital with Cootamundra Health Service manager Jenny Apps deciding to frame it and present it to the Hospital Auxiliary on their 80th birthday. Jenny (left) is pictured presenting it to Hospital Auxiliary president Jenny McClintock. It will now take pride of place in the Auxiliary’s meeting room in the hospital.

And I bring you yet another ‘blast from the past’ in the life of CADAS and CADAS Kids -
Here we have (from left) Paul wheatley, Andrew Clune and Lyn Quarmby all in action at a CADAS Kids Christmas party back in the mid 90’s.
Paul wheatley now lives in Sydney (in the lovely Sutherland Shire) with his wife Hayley and their three children. Paul works as a Graphic Designer.
Andrew lives in England with his family and works as an Agronomist.
AND Lyn Quarmby is an invaluable member of staff at our Cootamundra Nursing Home.

 STRONG KICK: pictured is Alana Simons kicking the ball during her side’s match against Wagga united at the weekend. The girls ended up winning the game 2-0.

 COOL KIDS: The footy game going on off the field with this lot was almost as intense as the action on the field during the Bulldogs game on Saturday. The kids of some of the most faithful Bulldogs supporters around and the future of our local league club, and probably the rugby club too, they were having a great time at Fisher Park.  BACK HOME: Former Cootamundra resident Bec Armstrong enjoyed taking in a soccer game while visiting back home last weekend. Bec played soccer in town for 13 years from age 11 and comes from a strong soccer family with her mum Vicki on the inaugural committee of the Boots n All B and S Ball. Bec is pictured with her cousin James Kelleher who played soccer on the day.

SOCCER KIDS: These youngsters enjoyed the fun of the Strikers Family Day on Saturday at O’Connor Park.

VALUABLE PLAYER: Scott Eulenstein has been an assett to the side all season. 


FINDING FORM: In his first season of Aussie Rules, Tom Cronin, pictured earlier this season at Clarke Oval, scored his first goal of the season on Saturday.

 IN COOTA: Fiona Simson visited Cootamundra for the NSW Farmers’ Association Cootamundra dinner which marked the sesquicentenary of our town. She is pictured here with comedian “The Old Fella” and local president of the Farmers’ Association Peter McClintock of ‘Dinyah’, Cootamundra.

 WINNERS: The victorious ladies pennant team consisted of (from left) Barb Beveridge, Joan Adams, Kate White, Judy Crick and Jenny Beath. The ladies claimed victory in Temora last Sunday.

FAMILY CELEBRATES:
One of Cootamundra’s nicest gentlemen Mr Ray Ireland celebrated his 84th birthday on July 2. Much to his delight his three children Craig, Tracey and Narelle SURPRISED him by returning to town together with his daughter-in-law Genelle (who is the daughter of former Coota couple Joe and Margaret Andrews) and granddaughter Katelyn Sligar to celebrate!
Ray had the most wonderful weekend and in his words, when he recoverd from the shock said “I just can’t believe you are all here!” this was said many times over the weekend. The children commented we don’t see him lost for words very often BUT he sure was this time.
There were many stories told, reminiscing, laugher and of course lovely meals and coffees at Ray’s favourite Coota spots.
Ray’s children Craig Ireland (Port Stephens), Tracey Sligar (Melbourne) and Narelle Ryall (Albury) all did so enjoy being back in town with beautiful winter sunshine, friendly folk and even did a spot of shopping!

I was so pleased to be in attendance at Storytime at the Library with Rochelle on Wednesday last. The littlies there certainly delight in listening to stories and then head for the tables and a spot of painting.
