LAST Friday, new owners of the Pickled Pantry Trevor and Corrie Richmond handed a cheque for $165.05 to the Cootamundra Junior Soccer Club following a fundraiser on July 26.
As the Richmonds took over they decided they needed to brush up on their hot drink making skills and contacted Junior Soccer secretary Raylene Godbier inviting soccer mums and dads down after a home game where they could make a gold coin donation for the hot drink of their choice.
This gave the Richmonds a realistic experience of having customers come in waves and cash handling as well as providing precious experience with the coffee machine.
The Junior Soccer Club received a shock last week when the were contacted by the Richmonds saying they would donate the gold coin collection back to the club.
“We’ve been here for 25 years, we were both local paramedics before moving into this field,” Trevor said.
“We wanted to do something to brush up our skills and if we can do something for the community at the same time, why wouldn’t we?”
Nice effort by these new business owners - well done Trevor and Corrie.

Aussie film screening and director talk prior
WE have been lucky enough to have had some terrific events at The Arts Centre recently and this sounds like another great one.
This Friday night, August 15,
director of ‘The Man from Cox’s River’ will be at The Arts Centre to present a talk on the film prior to it being screened in the Tin Shed Theatre.
Filmed around the Blue Mountains this award winning movie features the blurb:
“Luke Carlon grew up taking tourists on horse trips along the Cox’s River, a place his family has ridden since the 1820s.
Everyone came to ride along this pristine valley for up to a week including the rich and famous. All that ended nearly 20 years ago when the river was declared a wilderness and Luke’s horse stuntman father died.
After a long history of difficult relations between the National Parks and the Carlons, a thoughtful NPWS Ranger Chris Banffy had a problem Luke might be able to solve.
A wily mob of brumbies inhabit Sydney’s water catchment area and the head officer needs Chris to remove and re-home the animals without any of the outcry that has marred
previous operations using shooters in helicopters.
Unlike any other horse relocation program in Australia the only access to the trap-yards is either by helicopter or horseback.
Can Luke prove himself to the ghosts of his past and lead the horses biting and kicking out of the valley to safety and a new home without injuring them or his crew?”
Friday night’s talk and screening will take place from 7pm with adults $20 and students $15. Bookings for the Friday night are essential.
The film will also be screened this Saturday at 2pm and again at 7pm and Sunday at 5pm. Entry $15 adults and $12 students.
