Police in Florida allege that 20-year-old Pedro Bravo, a University of Florida student, killed his friend Christian Aguilar in September 2012.
He is accused of kidnapping, poisoning and finally murdering Mr Aguilar.
The alleged murder was motivated by jealousy, Florida prosecutors argued.
They accused Mr Bravo of murdering Mr Aguilar after he started dating his ex-girlfriend from High school, the Gainseville Sun reported.
On Tuesday the Alachua county criminal court heard that on the day of the alleged murder, Mr Bravo asked the iPhone voice assistant, Siri, to help him hide the body.
"I need to hide my roomate," Mr Bravo told the phone.
"What kind of place are you looking for?," Siri responded, before offering up, "Swamps, resevoirs, metal foundaries and dumps," as suggestions.
Florida authorities allege that Bravo strangled Aguilar for 13 minutes in his SUV in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart after going to purchase a Kanye West CD.
Data from the accused's iPhone also revealed that he left his flashlight application running for 48 minutes that day.
The prosecution argued in court that it was at the same time Mr Bravo was at the burial site.
Mr Aguilar's body was found in the woods off a state road in a shallow grave
