A CRAFT & QUILT EXHIBITION is taking place in the Jugiong Memorial Hall tomorrow and Sunday, open from 9am to 4pm with morning, afternoon tea and a light luncheon being served by the Committee at the helm of this Bi-Annual event.
All funds raised will go to the Victor Chang Cardic Research Institute and the Harden and Cootamaundra Branch of Can Assist.
AND out at the Springdale Hall a MIND, BODY & SPIRIT EXPO is taking place tomorrow and Sunday with a ‘KALEIDOSCOPE’ of interesting market stalls, jumping castles and people present to enlighten us on mind, body and spirit! Free Entry.
SEE YOU THERE.
RIDING PROUDLY
This couple Snr. Constables Wes and Danielle Weseberg were pictured riding down Parker Street on Tuesday.
They had just left Gundagai and were ‘out and about’ raising awareness of the late Sergent Edmund Parry.
Wes and Danielle belong to a group that one sees in attendance at functions around the district.
I saw the full contigent earlier this year in Jugiong at the Anzac Day Service and was duly impressed.
RAFFLE DRAW
At the Cootamundra Day VIEW Club luncheon meeting held on September 4 the ladies had the pleasure of having the National Vice President Lyn Gerstenberg for the day.
Lyn was asked to draw the Father’s Day Art Raffle which was a picture of the “Old Anglican Church” building donated by local artist Katrina Winters and done in charcoal inks and white out. Very clever!
The winning ticket was 38087 and it was one of the VIEW club members, Sue Jones, who took possession of this wonderful picture. All funds raised from this venture go towards the sponsorship of three Learning for Life students. In the photograph Sue Jones (left) is pictured receiving the artwork prize from National Vice President Lyn. VIEW Clubs are a valued part of The Smith Family.
BRILLIANT HOLIDAY
It has certainly been a busy time for Ron and Carmel Duffey as they are not long home from visiting their son Nigel and his family at Mareeba.
Whilst there they travelled north to Cooktown where Captain James Cook careened his ship HM Endeavour when it struck rocks on the Great Barrier Reef. The nearby Black Mountain National Park with its black bouncing rocks and deep caves is still a mystery.
The iconic Lions Den Hotel was a welcome drinking stop.
They also enjoyed a cruise on the Barron River and visited the many resort villages including Port Douglas and Karanda. At Yungaburra they visited the newly built Avenue of Honour built for soldiers killed in Afghanistan. The path is lined with flame trees which will flower each November in time for Remembrance Day.
On their return they travelled to Melbourne to see the re-vamped version of Les Miserables which was oustanding.
What an outstanding trip Carmel & Ron.
TOP DAY OUT
These photos ‘speak’ of a TOP day out at the highly successful Swap Meet Event which took place at the Cootamundra showground last Sunday.
