Cootamundra Associated Agents yarded 8564 sheep and lambs at its fortnightly sale this week. This was similar numbers to the previous sale.

The overall quality of the sale was slightly better overall with some very good trade lambs and a good run of mutton sheep available.
The Associated Agents report that the market was extremely strong with prices for lambs up to $5 to $7 dearer, while some mutton was $10 better than the previous sale.
As per usually there was a good field of buyers on the rail with the addition of a new Southern NSW processor. There was some good re-stocker activity, paying up to $80.00 for lambs going back to the paddock and also active on some lines of full mouth, 1st X ewes, that have had the opportunity to the rams, with a 6 month jacket. These Ewes bought $129.00.

Top price pen went to Paul Elrington from Wallendbeen, with an outstanding pen of XB Lambs. With an estimate CW of 27KG and $2.00 skin they were knocked down to Fletchers International after very spirited bidding for $151.60. This equates to $5.54 per KG CW.

24 to 26 KG CW Trade Lambs $ 140.00 to $145.00
22 to 24 KG CW Trade Lambs $ 125.00 to $ 135.00
20 to 22 KG CW Trade Lambs $115.00 to $123.00
18 to 20 KG CW Lambs $90.00 to $105.00.
16 to 18 KG lambs $85 to $95.00
Most trade lamb prices were in the $5.20 to $ 5.55/KG CW range and had $ 2 to $4.00 skins
Heavy ewe mutton with a $10.00 jacket sold to a top of $114.00
Medium weights made up to $87.00 plus 7 to $10.00 from previous sale
With lighter ewe mutton selling between $ 40.00 and $60.00 + $10.00
3280 ewes averaged $81.00. ( re stocker activity had an effect on these prices )
Heavy Woolly Wethers sold to a top of $108.00 to average $86.00 + $10.00
Hoggets reached a top of $110.00 to be fully firm from last sale
Rams topped out at $70.00 to average $52.00
