Two young teachers have been taken from us in the prime of their lives, without warning and seemingly without cause.
For their families, friends and schools, the grief and loss is immeasurable.
The immense impact one person leaves on a small town is not often appreciated until they are gone.
It is now apparent that the legacy of a life is not measured in the money earned or the career milestones reached, but rather the impact on the lives of others.
Though Rob was here just a few years, he made immediate friends through his passion for rugby and golf.
Similarly, though Mick left Cootamundra years ago he is fondly remembered by all who took to the cricket pitch alongside him.
Another thing that unites these men is their profession. They displayed a great zeal and aptitude for teaching that did not go unnoticed by students or colleagues.
Most of all, they were two wonderful family men who will be forever cherished by those closest to them.
In times such as these we as a community must rally around those hit hardest and show while we may not understand, we care.
It is also an important reminder to cherish every moment spent with those we love. Sadly we never know which memory will be the last.
