The blockbuster annual performance showcases the very best of NSW public schools, with singers, dancers and musicians auditioning at the start of the year.
Teacher Lucy Greene organised the students for their audition back in March and had a long wait before the exciting news they were accepted.
The talented group has been practising hard this term on contemporary hits such as Uptown Funk and Shake It Off, as well as items from musicals like Matilda and The Sound of Music.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to be involved in,” Ms Greene said.
“Not only is it about music enrichment and building performance skills, it is also an opportunity for our students to be part of something they will remember for the rest of their lives.”
The performance is also an opportunity for the students to experience the excitement of Sydney.
Ms Greene and school chaplain Sue Masters will accompany the students on some city sightseeing, including the famous David Jones Christmas windows.
Students Trysta Willoughby and Will Crawford both say they are excited to be part of such a big performance.
“I like hanging out with my mates and singing with my mates. You get to get out there and have fun,” Will said.
Trysta also clearly loves to perform, and this will not be her first time singing in Sydney.
Earlier this month she and fellow Cootamundra Public School students Madellen Monteleone and Sofia Padernal were selected to perform at the Sydney Opera House with the Riverina Central Choir.
Trysta is not just a gifted singer but also plays guitar and recently started learning harmonica.
“My dad used to sing to me every night, he’s my role model,” she said.
The students have their chance to shine in four shows at the Sydney Entertainment Centre over November 28 to 29.
