About 50 people enjoyed classic tunes over a casual lunch in an idyllic setting and perfect weather.
Those who attended were encouraged to wear white, and each table donated $5 towards White Ribbon.
White Ribbon is a national, male-led organisation committed to ending male violence against women.
The inaugural event was the brainchild of Cootamundra Soroptimist member Vivien Pavert.
“I’m so impressed, it has been lovely,” Mrs Pavert said.
“Soroptimist has always supported White Ribbon, and if the community makes a stand and does something together, like we have today, we can achieve something.”
Cootamundra Soroptimist president Denise Clune said the purpose of the picnic is advocacy, creating awareness, and reinforcing that violence is not acceptable.
“Enough is enough, men and women need to unite to stop violence,” Mrs Clune said.
“If we can help one person then that’s fantastic.”
Soroptimist is hoping to make the longest picnic an annual event, with options to support other organisations or continue partnering with White Ribbon.
Cootamundra social advocacy group AWARE also hosted a White Ribbon stall last Monday, raising over $200 for the worthy cause.
Local schools will get in on the act this week for White Ribbon Day on Wednesday, November 25.
