Wonderful local facility
MY MOTHER, Peg Butt, constantly told everyone who visited her in The Cootamundra Nursing Home that she was in the best nursing home in the country.

She had a lovely room overlooking lawns and gardens.
She was spoiled by nursing and social staff who were very attentive and caring.
Several times when visitors were expected, the staff even set her hair for the occasion.
Behind the scenes, many locals work tirelessly to raise funds to employ additional nursing staff over and above regulation numbers.
The social staff help with a variety of interesting events both to entertain the residents and raise money to go back into the home and its facilities.
I was also favourably impressed with a memorial service led by Lyn Forsyth to commemorate mum's passing along with three other residents recently deceased.
Let’s continue to support our wonderful local facility - the Cootamundra Nursing Home in Mackay Street.

We need strong councils
Earlier this year, the NSW government announced a proposal to merge Boorowa, Harden and Young councils, and Cootamundra and Gundagai councils.
This was part of local government reforms designed to create stronger councils that can deliver better services and infrastructure to communities.
The community has had the opportunity to have its say through public meetings and written submissions and this input is now being considered by the delegate who is examining and reporting on the government’s proposal.
In addition, Harden council now has submitted its own proposal to merge with Cootamundra and Gundagai councils. This proposal will now be considered in the same way as the government’s proposal.
As a consequence of Harden council’s proposal, an additional proposal for Boorowa and Young local government areas has been put forward in the event that Harden council’s proposal proceeds.
Communities will now have a chance to have a say on these additional proposals.
The government’s consideration of Harden council’s proposal highlights our commitment to working with all councils on local government reform and underscores the fact that no final decision has been made about any proposal.
At all times, the overriding concern is to ensure communities are served by strong and sustainable councils that can deliver the services and infrastructure they deserve now and into the future.

Use reusable bags
Plastic bags are made from fossil fuels such as coal, gas and crude oil and in making plastics, the industry emits harmful CO2 into our atmosphere.
Notwithstanding, plastic bags foul our creeks, rivers and oceans and are digested fatally by fish and mammals.
Our grandparents used shopping bags so why not buy four reusable shopping bags at your local supermarket for $4 and leave them in your vehicle after emptying at home. That way you shall always have them on hand.
Let’s work together for a better environment; this is our only world.
