Together, the clubs helped raise $330 for the local charity.
The Rugby Club bus was used to shuttle racegoers to and from the course with volunteer Justin Roberts in the drivers seat.
The cost to use the bus for patrons was a gold coin donation, which amounted to $230.
The Rugby Club added an extra $100 to this amount to see both clubs hand over $330.
Mr Roberts, a long-time supporter of Can Assist was pleased to be able to help the organisation once again on behalf of the Rugby Club.
“If we can do something to help a local organisation we well, that is what we (the Rugby Club) are all about,” Mr Roberts said.
Picnic Races president Scott Adams said this was the first year the Rugby Club was involved and proved to be such as success he will be pleased to continue the relationship next year.
“It ends up a win for everyone; patrons at the races and Can Assist,” Mr Adams said.
Accepting the funds, Can Assist’s Margie Large stressed that all funds donated to the Cootamundra branch of Can Assist stay local, helping people in Cootamundra and surrounding villages with the financial burden that comes with a cancer diagnosis.
