The National Party won big in the shake-up.
Mr McCormack is one of nine National Party ministry members, including five in Mr Turnbull’s cabinet.
The strong Nationals presence bodes well for rural Australia, according to the MP. Mr McCormack said rural Australians will have an “active voice in the determination of what happens in our nation”.
Mr McCormack was optimistic about his portfolio.
“I will build on the success of the Coalition,” he said.
When asked about the small business portfolio being moved out of the cabinet Mr McCormack was not concerned.
He echoed the Mr Turnbull’s sentiments that “every minister is a minister for small business.”
