Jane Bateup led a team including her husband Brad and his sister and her husband Kylie and Matt Giddings.
On the show, two families of four are brought together and go head-to-head answering questions that have been put to 100 people, to determine the most popular responses.
Not only is there plenty of laughs each night, but the winning family stands to win $10,000 if they score over 200 points in the final Fast Money round and a car if they win five nights in a row.
Jane opened her family’s efforts lining up to answer the question “Apart from clothes name something you can re-use for a second child?”.
Her answer of pyjamas didn’t go down well with the popular answers being cot 24, toys 22, pram 15, shoes 11, bed 11, car seat 4 and books 3.
Brad’s turn and he was asked “What is something you associate with Indiana Jones?”
Kylie was asked to name a classic french dish while up last Matt was asked “Besides your house name something that can be fenced?”.
While the team did not end up with any points, bowing out to three-time carryover champions the Vassalo family, Jane maintains it was a lot of fun and an experience she would do again in a heartbeat.
She applied to appear on the program after seeing it pop up online.
Twelve months later she received a phone call from producers inviting her family to audition.
They were successful and went on to Melbourne to film the program, hosted by Grant Denyer, about six weeks ago.
“Grant and all of the crew were really amazing,” Jane said.
It took a big effort to keep their appearance on the show a secret with the Bateup’s appearance confirmed by the network on Monday before the show aired.
Jane said she and Brad enjoyed watching the show at home with their children together with Kylie and her and Matt’s children visiting for the occasion.
“The kids loved it,” Jane said.
While they did not win, the Bateups did Cootamundra proud with their fun attitude.
It was a night Cootamundra was in the game show spotlight with one avid quiz show viewer noting the The Chase Australia featured the question “Where was Sir Donald Bradman born?”, the answer of course being Cootamundra.
