The surf may not be up at Coota Beach, but that doesn’t stop competitors engaging in one of Australia’s most most iconic Surf Life Saving events.

Beach sprints are a popular drawcard during the hottest part of day one of the Coota Beach Volleyball Carnival as spectators grab a bite to eat and pack in to get a good view.

Once again the sprints in all age groups will be held over lunch.

The junior sprints are back this year giving youngsters an opportunity to compete on the sand when an age restriction of 14 applies to Coota Beach competitors.

While it is generally the visiting teams in the high grade finals when it comes to the volleyball, the beach sprints provide a chance for locals to shine.
