Two major singles were played, the first between a weathered veteran of the game, Doug “Scruffie” Wallace, and a somewhat newcomer to bowls, Adam Hutchinson.
This game see-sawed along with each one taking the lead for a number of ends, and at 17-all it was still anybody’s game.
That was where the wheel fell off for Doug, and Adam went on to take the game with a 31-24 score.
The second singles game was between Des Guthrie and Kevin Black, and although at end 15 the scores were (10-10) Des remained in front to finish 31-25.
Thus we come to the major pairs game and Des.
Guthrie has a part to play with Eddie Jarrott against Eric Thorburn and Graham Bushell, and that winning streak, displayed in his previous game, could not be found.
Eric and Graham won 27-9.

FRIDAY’S social games saw the triples team of K Ryan, P Rasmussen, and D Manwaring with best result (+8) against R Williams, G Bushell, and R Johnson, who jumped out of the blocks to be (11-0) after first four ends but got run down to finish 19- 27 to Don’s team.
The second game found D Harris and A Ward pulling out all stops to try and run down W Ledger and K Breasley who began well in this game.
Wardy and Dave fell short by one in that chase, 18-19.

BOTH cards on Sunday came in with +13 margin and the countback found T Ward and K Breasley had won 14 ends in their game with P Rasmussen and D Manwaring, better by one than the win of T Williams, D Bateup, and G Davidson over G Hagan, C Miller, and D Wallace
WOMEN’S BOWLS
LAST Thursday, on one rink we had a club singles championship match and on an adjoining rink, an entertaining game of four-bowl pairs.
The in-form Pat Francis progressed to the final in the club singles championships after defeating Neta Manwaring.
Viv Christie and Kerry Byrne had a two-point win on the other rink against Jan Roberts and Marsha Phillips.
