Heavy fog set the scene for an epic showdown between the two sides, however an early injury to a Cootamundra player delayed play for over 30 minutes and rattled the home side’s composure.
An ambulance was called to the scene following a heavy collision between two players and the Strikers failed to reignite their game after play was resumed.
A number of tough chances went begging for the Strikers early on, but they were ultimately outclassed by their cross-town rivals who retained possession and were far more clinical in attack, netting four goals to see them comfortably home.
The loss sees Cootamundra drop to seventh on the Leonard Cup ladder with 11 rounds remaining in the regular season.
