Bill died on Saturday, June 17 at Benowa Waters (Gold Coast) at the age of 87 years.
He came to Cootamundra in 1953 as an employee of the Commonwealth Bank and later worked at Ron Loiterton’s Real Estate and was office manager at Jenkins Garage.
Described as an outstanding wicket-keeper by former top local cricketer Bob Kelly, Bill represented Cootamundra in both O’Farrell Cup and Stribley Shield matches.
“Apart from being a real good wicket-keeper, he was a handy lower order batsman and a very good clubman,” Bob added.
While in Cootamundra Bill played for Colts and Ex-Services Clubs and was a member of the Ex-Services teams that won four straight Merrin Cup premierships in the early 1960s.
Bill is survived by his wife June (nee Green) and daughter Vicki.
