Comfortably second on the GrainCorp Cup Southern Division, the ‘Colours are widely tipped to blast past competition strugglers Condobolin Rams.
However Cootamundra skipper Joshua Hudson is refusing to buy into past form and believes his side will be sternly tested.
“It’s a big bunch of boys out at Condo and we’ll be in for a tough game,” he said.
“The lengthy road trip makes it difficult to prepare and the Rams are a very physical side.”
Despite having won only three games this season, Condobolin have proven themselves a handful in attack and consistently trouble the competition’s leading sides with their abrasive style of football.
The Rams sit above West Wyalong and Harden for points scored but have floundered in defence, conceding over 400 points in 12 games.
It’s a weakness the ‘Colours will hope to exploit but Hudson certainly won’t be taking a win for granted.
“Their position on the ladder and their defence means nothing to us,” he said.
“We are trying to build momentum leading into the finals and given we’ve a few players out with injury this week, we will not be taking them lightly.”
A number of key players left the field during last weekend’s win over Grenfell but the side will be bolstered by returning duo Charlie Booth and Joe Makeham.
“It’s tough having players unavailable before finals but we’ll just have to see how things pan out,” said club spokesperson Syd Slotherin.
“Our goal-kicking and accuracy off the tee is going to be crucial over the next few weeks but we’ve got the cattle to go the distance and hopefully push for that major semi-final berth.”
Meanwhile, the Tricollettes will have to bide their time for another bye weekend before taking on West Wyalong in a mammoth showdown at Weevil Park next weekend.
