Police are investigating the whereabouts of four young persons after a break and entry occurred at the Cootamundra Tricolours’ Country Club Oval precinct last week.

At 5.30pm on Friday, August 13, police were called to the Hurley Street property after reports emerged of four figures loitering outside the rugby union clubhouse throughout the evening.
Witnesses informed police that “four young people were hanging around outside for a period of time prior to the break in” but were unable to identify them or provide accurate descriptions.
Upon arrival, officers did not not sight anyone in the vicinity and initial building checks found the premises to be secure, however further investigation revealed a small breach in the roof space.
“Police sighted a small hole in the eaves of the ceiling next to the door of the canteen,” said Cootamundra LAC crime manager Matt Packham.
“The keyholder then attended, at which time it was confirmed that entry had be gained via the roof cavity.”
In total, two breaches were discovered between the canteen area and change-room sections however early reports indicate nothing of particular note was taken from the property.
Tricolours president Justin Roberts seconded police statements and played down concerns for lost equipment.
‘We don’t really know much outside of what police can give us,” he said.
“It looks like they’ve come in through the roof and crawled between the rooms a few times but at this stage nothing’s really gone missing.
“They might have raided the canteen a little but we’ll find out more in the next few days.”
Police have seized a number of items for DNA and fingerprint testing while investigations are ongoing.
The clubhouse in question is slated for redevelopment after the Tricolours received over $200,000 in funding from state and local government to upgrade their outdated club facilities.
