August 12 until 20 marks National Science Week with students across Cootamundra embracing all things scientific.
At Sacred Heart Central School, students in year 8 spent this week working with magnets and chemical substances.
Teacher Tim Mahon said events such as National Science Week put a positive emphasis on science.
Mr Mahon said at least 50 per cent of science classes are devoted to practical work, giving students a strong understanding of concepts involved.
Activities for National Science Week have taken place across the district.
This year’s Science Week theme is Future Earth, which is a global community of researchers, projects and institutes brought together around a research agenda focusing on sustainability science.
