Everyone had a very good social, friendly time.
President Helen informed us of the birthdays to be celebrated this month at the special morning tea for them at her home.
We also heard about the very enjoyable trip to Wombat and Wallendbeen by many of our members.
It is amazing what these neighbourhood villages have to offer.
A date that we were asked to make note of in our diaries is December 20174 at the Cootamundra Art Centre for our Christmas lunch, not to be missed.
As usual a very delicious morning tea was served by hostesses Judy and Betti before the guest speaker for the day, Susie Pennington, was introduced.
Susie is a young mum who with her husband and family live in Cootamundra.
Their son Angus has cerebral palsy and is now 19 years of age.
When the problem was first diagnosed it was a complete unknown to all concerned and a very big family learning process followed over many years.
The amenities available in Cootamundra during this time were excellent.
Angus went to The Sacred Heart School at first and then onto Eloura.
At 19 years of age Angus has reached the next stage of his life where it is necessary for him to acquire a certain amount of independence within his age group but with care.
Susie is very passionate to acquire this and has made great headway towards this end. Because Angus is a very keen Union Football enthusiast two football clubs have got behind Susie's ardent ambition to build or buy a suitable home with special facilities in Cootamundra for Angus and others with similar disabilities in this age group.
In the light of all this there is a big fundraiser coming soon.
Susie answered many questions from the floor after which Jenny Leigh thanked her for a very enlightening talk on the rearing of a disabled child and we all wish the family every success in achieving "a Mum’s dream".
Before the meeting concluded, president Helen made mention of Rotary, a connecting club, is collecting small soaps that are often presented to customers at Motels and Hotels. These are condensed and made into larger soaps and given to underprivileged people towards their hygiene as a gift not for sale.
Next month’s meeting will be Monday, October 9 after which we will enjoy a picnic in the park.
