The Western region consists of 10 parishes from Lake Cargellico to Tumut.
Ms Donnelly is the first women to take up the position, and takes over from John Nieuwendyk, also of Cootamundra, who served as president for the last few years.
Last year the society distributed some $1.8 million to people in need in the Canberra-Goulburn area.
One of 52 conferences in Canberra-Goulburn, Cootamundra continues to provide a valued local service, assisting more than 1900 people in town last year and distributing almost a quarter of a million dollars.
