Airbnb has consolidated its temporary policy and officially banned parties and events being held at properties on its platform. The policy was introduced during the pandemic, but previously it was at the host’s discretion if guests were allowed to party or hold events.

However, after being pleased with the results of the temporary ban, Airbnb has fully outlawed parties and events.

Airbnb wrote in a statement: “We believe there is a direct correlation between our implementation of the policy in August 2020 and a 44 per cent year-over-year drop in the rate of party reports.

“The ban has been well received by our Host community and we’ve received positive feedback from community leaders and elected officials.”
