Australian travellers are the world's biggest spenders, says new report

When it comes to experiences and nightlife, Australian travellers are the biggest spenders in the world, according to Mastercard Economics Institute's recently released annual Travel Trends 2024: Breaking Boundaries report. "Australians tend to spend one of every $5 on experiences and nightlife - compared to the global average, which is closer to one in every $10," says the report, which places travellers from the UK in the second spot, followed by travellers from Italy, USA and Germany.

The report also ranks the popularity of various destinations around the world, with Japan in the top spot, followed by Ireland, Romania, Italy, Spain, Malaysia and Australia, making this country the seventh most desired destination on the planet. mastercardservices.com
