"I believe that I was kind of meant to do this," he said. "I feel like I'm lucky that I was put onto this path."
And the So Beautiful singer is ready to talk about his good fortune. He'll be up on stage reflecting on his career, his songwriting and his greatest hits in an intimate tour through regional Australia.

Murray leaves Darwin on May 9 for a 55-date acoustic tour, supported by Rachael Fahim and Brett Wood, that passes through each state and territory before the final show on September 7 in the Blue Mountains.
Intimate shows
Great regional venues such as the Albury Entertainment Centre, the Sawtell RSL and Batemans Bay's Yuin Theatre will host Murray as he passes through town.
The 55-year-old plans to play "a lot of favourite songs" and regale the crowd with stories of his meteoric rise in the charts and his years in the music industry.
He's even happy for audience members to ask questions.

"I like having that communication with the crowd so that they feel like they're part of the show, not just watching the show," the 17-time ARIA nominee said.
"It's their show too; they get that chance to ask me something they've always wanted to ask," he said.
The unlikely path
The Chinchilla-born singer's decision to pursue music after school "was just luck", he said.
He was destined for a career in sports medicine before a housemate, Charlie, suggested taking guitar lessons.
"Turns out he didn't go, but I went and had a couple of lessons. It's because of him I got started," the Better Days singer said.
The decision changed Murray's life, and after his friend died young from an aneurysm, he named his first child Charlie in his honour.

As a young man, Murray left for London with his guitar and friend Angus McDonald of Sneaky Sound System to live in a two-bedroom flat with 19 other Australians.
The pair would sing songs and perform for their housemates, with McDonald playing an original for every cover Murray played.
With the encouragement of his housemates, Murray started writing his own songs and found that he "was actually really passionate about it".
The early 2000s brought Murray to the world's attention with the release of The Game (2001), Feeler (2003) and See the Sun (2005) gaining major public recognition.
Feeler was nominated as Best Breakthrough Artist - Album and Best Blues and Roots Album at the 2003 ARIA Awards.
The following year he was nominated as the Best Male Artist and for Single of the Year, Best Pop Release and Best Video for So Beautiful.
I Am Fire
Murray has continued making original music with his latest single, I Am Fire, released on March 13.
The song's powerful lyrics recognise "people helping others, putting themselves in harm's way, putting their bodies on the line to save others" in the Russia-Ukraine War and Israel-Palestine War.
"For me, they're the real heroes in the world, standing up for human rights," he said.
Murray has no plans to slow down. He said he's "already started writing the next album".
"One of my goals is to be playing music until I'm in my 80s, this is the best job in the world," he said.
