"He was always one of the first to show kindness to others," Joshua McEwen said.
Mr McEwen said Caleb's parents had mentioned the little boy was excited about getting his first "wobbly tooth".
"He loved learning, loved reading books, and was fascinated by the world around him.
"He was a curious, interesting, wonderful little boy."

Mr McEwen said Caleb and his family "put their trust and hope in Jesus".
"As a Christian school our faith in Jesus is at the heart of who we are and this is what enables us to get through difficult times like this," he said.
"We don't know the circumstances that led to this, but we do know that God sees us, and cares for us."
Caleb was struck by a vehicle while walking to a bus stop on Bannockburn-Shelford Road in Teesdale, a rural Victorian town in the Golden Plains Shire, 34km west of Geelong.
The incident occurred just after 8am on March 27. Caleb died at the scene.
The driver, an 84-year-old Teesdale woman, was spoken to by police and was released pending further inquiries.
