The Life Education van and the home of Healthy Harold arrived in town on Wednesday setting up at the Cootamundra Public School for the next week.
Healthy Harold and his educators through Life Education have been visiting the local schools for more than 20 years.
Life Education is the nation’s largest not-for-profit provider of preventative drug education in schools.
The program is used extensively to complement schools’ drug and health education programs and is built on the philosophy that prevention is better than cure.
Some of the topics the Life Education with the help of Healthy Harold cover with the children ranging from kindergarten through to Year Six include handling illness and inujury, safety in the park, personal safety, knowing the human body, safe use and storage of medicines, emergency procedures, issues around litter/used syringes, bullying and expressing emotions, healthy food choices, active lifestyles and personal hygiene.
Healthy Harold has already been at the Stockinbingal Public School and will be visiting EA Southee School, the Sacred Heart Central School and the Illabo Public School over the coming weeks.
