The plaque will be erected on the school’s new classroom in honour of this remarkable woman’s enormous contribution not only to the school but to public education in general.
Mrs Ingold was a passionate advocate of education, and in particular public education, and a much loved member of the Cootamundra and Cootamundra Public School community.
The plaque was unveiled by Mrs Ingold’s great grand daughter Abbey Sloan.
Mrs Ingold passed away in April last year.
Cootamundra Public School Principal Bill Godman stressed the significance of the occasion and in honouring a woman who did a tremendous amount of work for public education and Cootamundra Public School.
Mrs Ingold’s family was present for the event and daughter Jenny Simons spoke on behalf of her family, thanking the schooling community for this special honour.
Mrs Simons said her mother began her school at Cootamundra Public School in 1932.
Mrs Simons commented that this was a chance to acknowledge her mother’s lifelong association with the school.
She described her mother as her family’s “greatest mentor” and presented the school with a book on behalf of her
family.
