THE ‘Book Café’ in Sutton Street has been officially welcomed to the Snowy Hydro SouthCare fold for the work they are doing raising funds for the vital rescue helicopter service.

Earlier this year representatives from Snowy Hydro in Canberra travelled to Cootamundra to meet with and thank official volunteer Jeffrey Watts Jnr, who runs the Book Café out of his family’s Sutton Street Store.
The bookstore is filled with donated books and the profits from the second hand books are donated to Snowy Hydro SouthCare to help keep the local rescue helicopter for Cootamundra in the air saving lives.
The store is run by Jeffrey and Carol Smith, both of who started volunteering their time for Snowy Hydro SouthCare in December 2012.
Snowy Hydro SouthCare finance and volunteer manager Bronwen Bitmead accepted a cheque for $1500 while in Cootamundra.
“This is a fantastic display of support from our volunteer base in Cootamundra,” Ms Bitmead said.
“I urge others in the community to consider some of the many ways they can be involved and help raise awareness and funds for the service.”
The Snowy Hydro SouthCare Rescue Helicopter services an area that extends north to Orange, west to Hay, south to the Victorian border and up the NSW East Coast.
Over the course of 2011 and 2012 the helicopter attended 105 missions to the Cootamundra, Young and Goulburn area.
