Congratulations to Stockinbingal residents Peter and Peggy Nielsen on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary.
Peter and Peggy met when Peggy’s father was sent from Windsor to Batemans Bay to construct the bridge over the Clyde River.
Peter met Peggy when she went to a country dance with her mother and father, and Peter was collecting entry money at the door.
Peter asked Peggy how many people were in her party, to which she replied ‘herself, her mother and her father.’
Peter told Peggy it would cost her four shillings and the first dance.
So Peter and Peggy had the first dance as well as all the other dances that night and ever since.
Peter and Peggy were married in St Mathew’s church at Windsor on July 18, 1953, the year that Princess Elizabeth became Queen.
The happy couple went on to have three children - Cynthia, Geoffrey and Diane.
The happy couple were joined by their three children, 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild (and their respective spouses and partners) for a wonderful celebration held at the Stockinbingal Bowling Club.
The Liberal candidate for the Hume Electorate, Angus Taylor, presented the letters, telegrams and certificates from the Queen, Governor General and Prime Ministers past and present, and Dr Ashley Collins from Tele-Medicine Australia in Temora and his wife Honey were also present.
NEW BABY
Congratulations to Keith and Kate Hill on the safe arrival of their beautiful baby boy, Ethan James Hill.
Ethan was born in Wagga Base Hospital on Wednesday, July 17 weighing 3.14 kg (6.1 lb).
Proud grandparents are former Cootamundra residents Bruce and Helen Hill who now reside in Jindera, and Wayne and Lindy Cowling from Berry.
Ethan is a great grandson for well known Cootamundra man Fred Hill and Beryl Hill (dec).
Also thrilled with Ethan’s arrival are great aunt and uncle Robyn and Luke Basham along with their children Hayden and Caitlyn.
Ethan’s aunt Tegan Holl is married and living in America with her husband Chase, but is planning a trip home in the next month especially to meet her new nephew, whilst uncle Kieran Hill who is studying at Wollongong University was happy to have lots of photos taken with Ethan after his birth.
Both Kate and Ethan are doing extremely well - wishing the family all the very best!
