COOTAMUNDRA’S Julie Bradley has had a busy cricket season supporting her sons Dean and Rohan in their respective local sides.
The pair faced off in the South West Fuel Cup final the weekend before last, Dean playing for Country Club and Rohan part of Central Hotel.

THE kitchen of the Wallendbeen Memorial Hall was buzzing at lunchtime during last week’s Grain Research and Development Corporation Update for local
farmers.
Ladies gave up their time to provide lunch for the group of around 60 graingrowers.
It was the same core group of ladies who are seen offering their support to so many functions in the village and their commitment to their community is to be commended. Certainly no one went hungry!

SAYING THANK YOU: Cootamundra’s Fiona Braybrooks (right) thanks The Base Store’s Emma Larkman for the support of the Base Store over recent months with two donation tins on their front counter raising about $200 for young people in need in India.
The funds helped courier and track a package of beanies and toys knitted by Cootamundra residents.
MAKING GOOD USE: The beanies knitted by local ladies are being put to use by a Bedla boys orphanage.

Gemma Rice the inspirational girl from Armidale, who a number of years ago opened the School of St. Jude in Arusha, Tanzania, spoke to a capacity audience at the Young Town Hall last Friday night. The school began with a small number of students and now they have 1,500 pupils, this year the seniors doing their HSC!
A number of Cootamundra and district residents sponsor a student from St. Jude’s and were present on Friday night last to hear Gemma speak.

* They had to attend a performance and do a 500 word essay on the group. Anthony McGaun-Smith then said, and I quote, “while we were watching them we fell in love with them.”

Tom’s 80th milestone:
POPULAR local gentleman Tom Elphick was the guest of honour at his 80th birthday party held at the property of his grandson Adam Twyford and partner Shannon last Saturday.
The party was attended by close to 120 people with guests travelling from Gundagai, Nangus, Muswellbrook, Tumut, Port Stephens and Moruya as well as locally.
Tom’s wife Margaret and three daughters Kathleen, Diane and Debbie and families catered for the event.
Tom’s actual birthday was March 11. He is the adored grandfather of 11 grandchildren including Adam, Wayne and Graeme Twyford, Nathan, Gavin, Kerrod and Dylan Wilde, John, Michael, Rebecca and Darren Vesperman and four great grandchildren Madeline, Jack, Matthew and Benjamin.
From the bottom of Tom’s heart he would like to thank his family and friends for making his milestone birthday very special and one to remember.

HOW terrific was it to see this group of former Stockinbingal residents return to the village for Sunday’s Stock Village Fair.
Catching up were (from left) Ray and Sandra Fallon of Cootamundra, Sue Ryan (nee Donoghue) of Wodonga who some might remember from the Stock Hotel in the 1970s, Mark Witenden now of Bateman’s Bay, Jill Booker of Milvale, Kate Mejaha (nee Pether) of Mt Annan in Sydney, Cootamundra’s Daryl Sedgwick, Elizabeth Woolaston (nee Chudleigh) and Rob Woolaston now of Brisbane.
Loads of fun was had and many memories shared as these proud locals shared stories from back in the day.
THE Davey twins, Riley and Zak, had a ball celebrating their 10th birthday at the Stockinbingal Village Fair on Sunday.
The boys invited a number of friends and parents June and Al provided wrist bands for each of the kids to enjoy unlimited rides all day. No better way to mark the occasion for Riley and Zak as the kids went from ride to ride testing everything out.
