Throughout this month the town has celebrated Wattle Time with everything from art shows to cycle races and this weekend it will culminate with a bang as the the annual Wattle Time Fair and Street Parade are staged.
The Wattle Time concept in Cootamundra has flourished in recent years and locals and visitors are set for one of the biggest Wattle Time celebrations the town has seen tomorrow.
The entire central business district will be transformed with the Wattle Time Fair in Albert Park from early morning and the Street Parade to make its way down Parker Street at 12noon.
Both of these events have been coordinated by the Cootamundra Development Corporation (CDC) and CDC chairman John Stephens said he could not be happier with the way Wattle Time in Cootamundra has been revitalised.
“Wattle Time is a chance for the town to come together, both the business and the larger community, to promote what it is we do well,” Mr Stephens said.
The Wattle Time Fair was introduced last year by the CDC as a hallmark event to bring people to town and create something that could be enjoyed by all locals - young and old.
It was a massive success in its inaugural year and with 68 stalls this year is back bigger and better than ever.
“We really wanted a strong second year to cement the event on the Wattle Time calendar and given the response we have had so far and the weather forecast it looks like we’ll get it,” Mr Stephens said.
With the fair set down for 9am until 4pm there will be plenty to see and do for the whole family including market stalls, delicious food spread out over two food court dining areas, entertainment throughout the day, face painting, the Lions Club jumping castle, pony rides, bungee jump, laughing clowns as well as Mr Tool and Fire and Rescue NSW mascot Bernie Cinders.
