On Friday October 24 Jan will be centre stage with her percussionist, Mike Pullman.
Jan is hoping to see some familiar faces, as she said that last year’s audience members promised to come along to the next local performance.
“Before I came to Cootamundra last year I wanted to come for years and years,” Jan said.
“The Arts Centre is so enthusiastically-run by the volunteers and staff.
“This is the kind of community that’s lacking in cities. I come from a small country town in New Zealand, and so I really feel at home in Cootamundra.
Jan Preston is a true asset to the Antipodean music industry; born in New Zealand, living in Sydney and touring the country for much of the year.
She likes to exercise her composition skills; writing music for films and television.
You may well have heard the theme to Australian Story devised in 2006 by none other than Jan Preston. She is also the winner of 5 Music Awards (ABC Music)
Jan has longstanding popularity in Australia and overseas; known for her candid personality and high energy performances.
Her boogie-boogie piano playing, in the style of the late Winifred Atwell is sure to get the toes tapping and spirits uplifted again in Cootamundra
Along with her own tour, Jan plays at festivals and concerts in NZ, Australia, the UK, Europe and China.
The Arts Centre volunteer Lindsey Beber invited Jan to perform at last year, and this year she’s anticipating a packed auditorium.
“She’s such an excellent, incredible pianist, a great performer; you’ll get enjoyment just from being in the room,” Lindsey said.
