NORMAN’S PASSING
The death occurred in Tumut on Thursday last February 12 of former Cootamundra gentleman Norman Power.
Better known as Norm, he was the brother of Clarrie Power and brother-in-law of Gloria Power, and Bruce and Lyn Packham all of Cootamundra.
He was also a brother of Ron (Tumut) and Marj (Ulladulla) and brother-in-law of Beverly Power (Tumut) and John Suthern (Ulladulla), stepsister Ann (Young) and her husband Peter.
Also left to mourn Norm’s passing are eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
During the late 1940’s and early 1950’s Norm was a train driver in Cootamundra before moving to Tumut.
He will be remembered by many older railwaymen as a keen sportsman including cricket (Norm played for Colts), rugby league, fishing and was even known to grace the boxing ring on occasions.
Keen on music, Norm had a morning session over 2LF in the late 1940’s and played for 20 years in bands around the Tumut district.
Norm is survived by his wife Patricia, sons John and James and their wives Jeanette and Kim, and daughter Anne.
His graveside service funeral was held on Saturday, February 14, at the Tumblong cemetery.

SOMETHING NEW
Tomorrow February 19 from 2.00-4.00pm, Hugh Roberts will bring to the U3A Group the first in a series of three on “Debating”. Hugh tells us that this will be a fun program where everyone is encouraged to have a go as a speaker, commentator, voter or adjudicator. There will be a look at serious and humorous topics!
Hugh is a local who has had no formal training in debate, but a lot of experience since school in debating and public speaking. All members are very much looking forward to this series.
UNDER THE STARS
In that lovely spot Elm and Wren 37 Hurley Street, an evening entitled “A Night Under The Stars’ will take place on Saturday, February 28 (6pm to late).
Delicious homemade pizzas and nibbles will be served and live music by Stoney Hills will make for a PERFECT evening out.
