Last Friday night, four of the most giving members from the Junior Cricket Club were honoured for their work with life membership.
Ian Barrett, Todd Basham, Darren Connell and Alison Kerrison were each afforded this honour.
Ian has been a very efficient treasurer of the junior association for five seasons.
He has been meticulous and carried out the position with great care. Ian also brought new ideas for fundraising.
Todd was involved with junior cricket in Cootamundra for nine seasons.
In 2006/07 and 2007/08, he coached the Cootamundra Stacey Shield representative side.
In the 2008/09 season, Todd took over as president of the Junior Association.
Over the next six seasons, he has been the driving force in raising junior cricket registrations through gala days, day/night cricket for all age divisions and generally overseeing the restructure of junior cricket in town.
In 1999, Darren turned his hand to coaching and over the past 10 seasons has coached junior cricketers for the Saturday morning competition.
For six seasons, Darren coached the Cootamundra Junior representative sides that have played in the Northern Riverina Cricket Council competition.
Darren’s coaching highlight was when Cootamundra won the Fife Shield defeating Wagga in the 2013/14 final.
Alison took on the secretary’s role in the 2008/09 season and held this position for seven seasons.
For the past two seasons, she has done so even though her son Judd no longer plays in the juniors.
Ian, Todd, Darren, and Alison join the only other life member of the Cootamundra Junior Cricket Club, Graeme Worboys who was honoured in 1997.
