Adam Perrim, 19, appeared before Cootamundra Court this morning to apply for bail following a high-speed collision near Wallendbeen last night.
Ms Atkinson died at the scene, whilst Mr Perrim and another female passenger were taken to Cootamundra Hospital for injuries.
Mr Perrim allegedly fled from police at speeds of up to 200km/h in order to avoid arrest for breach of bond related to two assault charges.
He faces eight charges including aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death, drive furiously in a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, and Skye’s Law, which applies to police pursuits.
When questioned by magistrate David Degnan as to why he deserved bail, Mr Perrim became abusive and threatened the judge.
“One would hope and expect you receive a lengthy jail term,” Mr Degnan said in refusing bail.
He will appear before Wagga Court via video link on Monday May 25.
