In addition they are responsible for a variety of workshops, conferences and learning forums for the business community.
They host the successful Business After Hours concept where local businesses have the opportunity to throw open their doors to other businesspeople and showcase what they have to offer. It creates an environment where people can learn from eachother and talk about any issues they face – in a town our size it is logical that what affects one business often affects a large portion of the business community.
At this month’s Cootamundra Shire Council meeting, councillors voted to extend their Memorandum of Understanding with the CDC until June 30, 2018.
Council also pledged to make an advance of $5000 on the 2015/16 financial year contribution to the organisation.
The overall contribution to the CDC for the upcoming financial year from the shire is $29,787.
This annual contribution is increased in line with the rate pegging limit each year.
“Council has established a strong link with the CDC through the Public Relations Officer in regard to event coordination and community liaison,” a shire spokesperson said.
“This connection has been very successful through events such as the Wattle Time celebrations,” the spokesperson continued.
While approving the continuation of the successful relationship, Cr Mary Donnelly expressed that a letter of thanks and commendation should be written to former CDC manager Sharon Breese for her contribution in lifting the organisation to where it is today and setting plans in place for the future of popular events in town.
