This is uttered by every adult who has been there and done that.
Whether they achieved top marks in their exams or bombed out painfully, the value of hindsight allows year 12 graduates to know that success in the ‘real world’ is not based on a scoresheet but takes into account factors such as integrity, an ability to work hard and sometimes being in the right place at the right time.
To our local year 12 students, hopefully you have done your best and that is all anyone can ask of you.
Remember this is not the end, this is just the beginning and a bright future awaits anyone willing to go out and get it.
We wish students every success as they plan for tertiary study, apprenticeships, traineeships, gap years to travel or work, and life entering the workforce.
There are a myriad of options to achieve the career path you want, from transferring university courses to pre-apprentice training at TAFE or with a Registered Training Organisation.
Don’t discount how good work experience looks on your resume also, if someone isn’t paying you to do what you want, offer your time and skills free, you never know where it will lead.
