Now that Suttons Lane has changed from a lane to a two-way road, I would like to see council take this opportunity to signpost this area for its historical significance for those living today and future generations.
This roadway was first surveyed in 1834 as the southern road from Sydney down south until 1882.
Junee Shire named the part in their shire the Old Sydney Road.
One needs to put the above aside and consider the town’s pre-history.
Coromandra Settlement pre-dates Cootamundra today by around 40 years. It failed because the railway station and yards could not be built there.
I ask councillors to be part of history and re-name Suttons Lane Coromandra Road.
Signpost the first creek on the southern end Coromandra Creek as named before 1848. Signpost Salt Clay Creek as on maps where it runs into Mr Paul Braybrooks’ property.

Proud of our hospital
I would like to give a big shout out to all the staff at our local hospital.
I had to admit my husband on Easter Saturday. They were flat out, being understaffed and with every bed full. They did a wonderful job in very trying circumstances.
I would like to give particular thanks to Doctor Fry for getting on to my husband's condition quickly – he has been diagnosed at Wagga Referral Hospital with a brain tumour, and has been flown to Sydney.
Thanks to all for their wonderful efforts and every staff member was pleasant to deal with. We can be proud of our hospital and our town.

Roosters lost their crow
It’s great news that so many Liberal and National Party MPs (state and federal) are coming out publicly against Premier Mike Baird’s forced council mergers.
Most recently, National MPs Kevin Anderson and Kevin Humphries joined a rally to call for Walcha not to be forcibly merged and denounced forced amalgamations.
The most senior National MP in Australia, Deputy PM Barnaby Joyce has also called for Walcha to stand alone.
The problem is many Liberal and National MPs say one thing in their local communities and do another in Parliament.
They have already voted twice against allowing the issue of forced mergers to be debated in Parliament.
They are roosters in their electorates, but feather dusters in Macquarie Street.
If your local MP says they support your local council, get them to act on it.
Ask them to call Premier Baird and Deputy Premier Troy Grant while you’re standing there with them.
Ask them to raise it in the Parliament. Otherwise they’re just not serious.

Ludicrous claims
Jock Munro rightly questions Ross Flannery's credibility over his claims that the AWB and the wheat single desk were not well supported.
In his defence of Senator Heffernan's wheat treachery, Flannery also falsely claimed that "it was the corrupt actions of some of the directors and senior staff that caused the loss of the single desk" and that "quite a number were found guilty and pleaded as such and were convicted".
In fact, the AWB Managing Director and a staff member were found guilty of civil offences but no directors or staff members were charged with corruption making Flannery's claims all the more ludicrous.
