Our little Dolphin swimmers, Grace Derrick, Wiley and Daysie Leahy made their coach proud with some gutsy swims. The nine years competitors, Evie Leahy, Dom Shepherd and Lucy Smirl all won blue and red ribbons for places in their respective divisions.
The 11 years showed what a strong cohort they are. Lizzie Bragg won medals for 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle, and ribbons in each other event.
Maddie Brown won ribbons in her division and Macey Leahy achieved PBs in every swim. Lachie Smirl and Ethan Shepherd also finished with both ribbons and PBs.
The 12 years competitors, Lachie Sedgwick and Abbey Gammon had a great day. Lachie won medals for 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly while Abbey is going from strength to strength and won first in 50m breaststroke.
Michaela and Lachlan Webb finished the day achieving PBs in every swim. Lachlan achieved first in 50m breaststroke and second in 50m freestyle.
Annie Khoury represented 14 years and took some great times off her PBs, particularly her 100m breaststroke which saw her shave off six seconds to win third.

THE cub was honoured to have a former captain of the Australian swimming team present the medals and ribbons last Thursday night.
Matt Renshaw has represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games three times, in 1982, 1986 and 1990, and won two gold medals as part of the 4 x 100m freestyle relay team, setting games records both times.
Matt gave a short talk to the swimmers about the benefits of swimming, including health, friendship, goal setting, and learning that sometimes it's “just not your day, but the great thing about swimming is that tomorrow is always a new day”.

THE club will be holding a South West Zone Meet on Sunday, January 22. This is a major meet that the club hosts, run by qualified officials, attended by clubs from as far away as Canberra, Albury, Griffith and Cowra, many of whom stay overnight and spend time in town over the weekend.
We hope to make this one of the best meets in the zone, and a significant event for Cootamundra.
The club is offering sponsorship packages for businesses and individuals for $30 (naming rights for one race), $50 (two races), and $100 (four races). Sponsors will be mentioned during the carnival and business logos will appear in the program. For more information, please call Kathryn Webb (0498 547 542) or email cootaswim@gmail.com.
