The Cootamundra team was forced to make five changes to the side due to a number of players declaring they were unavailable.
The match played at Robertson Oval on a great batting deck and billiard table outfield, saw Wagga win the toss and bat, scoring 5/282, Cootamundra replied 8/237.
The talented left-hander scored 104, an innings that included 16 fours.
Berkrey’s century was a first in representative cricket for Cootamundra for nearly a decade; Brendan Gale scored 191 not out against Narromine in a Country Plate match 2007.
He was associated in two handy partnerships, second wicket with John Stephens, yielded 53 runs, Stephens scored 22, while the fourth wicket stand of 74 runs with Mark Elia, out elder statesman remained 42 not out.
Wagga’s innings was highlighted by a superb knock of 135 not out by Jon Nicholl.
Mal Sutherland, 44, and 14-year-old Nicholas Holt, 14, made their debuts for Cootamundra, while Tom Grace also answered the call late in the week. The inaugural Arthur Stacey OAM medal winner Jon Nicholl.
