PETER Guthrie opposed Terry Cosgrove in a very close encounter where Peter got off to flyer, scoring seven shots in the first two ends.

Terry held his composure and found himself a shot behind 14-15 after 16 ends had been completed.

From that point the score was never more than four and Terry went on to win 31-29.

Alan Small took on Jim Deacon in another tight encounter where the score was no greater than three throughout the whole game.

After battling for 25 ends the score was locked at 23 all and again at 30-all Alan went on to win 31-30.

Ginger O’Brien and John Goggin’s game had the score tied on six occasions up until end 30 where Ginger picked up a four and never looked back to win 31-27.

Peter Deacon had a comfortable win against Graeme Snape.

Alan Small and Jim White had a tough encounter with Al jumping to a handy lead 19-3 but Jim fought back to get within three shots but Al weathered the storm to win 31-26.

Grumpy and John Harriott had a close encounter but John went on to win 31-26.

P Calmanovici defeated Froggy in another close game 31-28 with the score equal on four occasions.

The tight games continued with last year’s champion Roman Bondaruk playing Pickles.

The champ was just a touch too good and won 31-28 and Roman followed that win with a win over Bob New 31-24. Terry Cosgrove had a win over Steve Stanton.

Terry McDonald accounted for Geoff Hillier 31-23. In a championship Major Pairs game G Manwaring and Terry Smith had a comfortable win over Alan Small and Geoff Hillier.
