After a typical “softening-up” period in the opening ten minutes, the Tricolours opened their account with two penalties to Matt Berkery.
Grenfell were later reduced to 14 men after a high tackle and Cootamundra capitalised with another penalty and the game’s first try through Berkery Hardie on halftime.
The ladder-leading Panthers clawed their way back after the break, busting through some lazy Colours defence to peg the margin back to 14-7.
However, this only stung the home side into action, who struck back with a classic set-piece try to Matt Berkery before further tries to Sam Bush, Bob Scott and Issac Mitchell sealed the game.
Club spokesperson Mick Gay was pleased with the win and singled out Sam Bush, Matt Berkery and Sam Gamell as key performers.
Next week the Tricolours and Tricollettes travel to West Wylong to take on the Wevils.
