Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council administrator Stephen Sykes has implored community members to voice their concerns and share ideas ahead of the September council elections.

Mr Sykes has fallen foul of ongoing dissidence from anti-merger supporters but said recent discussions with local businesses and community leaders had been significant steps towards an stronger unified council.
“These discussions are providing me with a clearer view of community needs and priorities and equipping me with the knowledge required to take these priorities to the next level,” Mr Sykes said.
Mr Sykes said he attended a series of meetings with Deputy Premier John Barilaro and Minister for Regional Water Niall Blair during which he pleaded the case for additional funding for the at-risk Gundagai Sewerage Treatment Plant.
“The meetings were extremely positive and I anticipate receiving a timely response to our requests,” Mr Sykes said.
Mr Sykes said the council was open to community advice and would listen to its residents.
“We will continue to analyse options available to us and we will take action to ensure that the council elected in September has solid, community-led foundations from which to deliver this region a dynamic future."
The administrator encouraged community members to take part in the upcoming community consultation sessions, including further Village Strategy Engagement sessions such as the one held at Wallendbeen last week, occurring through May and June.
