We asked Cootamundra youngsters Noah Carr and Blake Holder to explain why these small plastic discs are taking households and playgrounds by storm.
Noah, 6, with the help of mum Sarah and big sister Bella, has completed his album collecting all 42 discs while Blake, 8, only has a few to go before he has a full set.
Each disc features an action shot of a Marvel character and also details their levels of strength - which can be used in game play.
There are seven teams of characters to collect; each group with its own colour and six different characters.
Noah explained that as well as collecting and trading discs with friends, he enjoys building things out of them and also turning into the characters.
His favourite characters are Ironman and Black Panther while Blake enjoys getting the Guardians of the Galaxy discs when mum Brigid does the shopping.
Noah has a routine where he holds out a given disc, turns around and returns to the front as the character on the disc.
Blake describes Guardians of the Galaxy as one of his “most favourite” shows.
“I love Marvel things and Marvel is really good,” he told the Cootamundra Herald.
The discs have been so popular, the Cootamundra Woolworths store has run out, along with some other stores in the local area.
Parents have taken to social media in droves nominating the disc numbers their child is missing and any spares they are able to swap as their children aim to complete their sets.
