Months of planning have been rewarded with shovels in the ground after construction began on the new outdoor pavilion at the Cootamundra Ex-Services Club last week.
The pavilion is the brainchild of local designer Roman Bondaruk and will feature modern inclusions such as a louvered roof, glare-proof windows to maximise natural light, comfortable contemporary furniture.
Concept art displays the upper deck area as jutting out to the edge of the bowling green and the club has assured patrons all facets of the pavilion will be wheelchair-accessible.
Club spokesperson Megan Sawyer said the pavilion also would house upgraded televisions for patrons to enjoy their favourite sports and programs live on the big screens.
However, Mrs Sawyer admitted their scheduled completion at the end of July was unlikely.
“Apparently there was a problem with the architecture and the steel so the builders are reviewing their plans,” Mrs Sawyer said.
“We’ve revised our completion date to sometime in September.”
Local builder Todd Bryant and his crew will oversee construction of the new pavilion and local tradesmen Todd Basham, Aaron Patterson, Michael Van Baast, Michael Van Kerkoerle and Jeremy Annetts will all be involved in the finishing touches.
