Wallendbeen man escapes death after falling into freezing waters

Local sources told the Herald an elderly gentleman was found in the near-freezing water just after midnight on Saturday June 24.

The man was dragged to safety by neighbours who overheard his cries and paramedics were called to the scene at 12:15am.

Speaking on Monday, a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said the man’s condition to stable but investigations into the incident were ongoing.

“No particular injuries were found aside from being very cold,” the spokesperson said.

The man was transported to Cootamundra Hospital via road for further treatment.
