Make-A-Wish Australia makes the cherished wishes of children and teenagers battling life-threatening medical conditions come true.
A truly commendable organisation, Jai’s father Mick did not hesitate to put his hand up when Football Wagga Wagga proposed clubs get involved in Wax for a Wish in support of the Make-a-Wish.
Mick saw the smile on his son’s face when his wish to meet the Ninja Turtles and superheros at Movie World was granted.
By Jai’s wish coming true, treasured memories were created for Mick, mum Raylene, Jai’s siblings as well as the extended Godbier family and his vast network of friends and supporters.
“It was one of the happiest times of his life,” Mick said.
“I know how happy ‘Bugs’ was when his wish was granted and if I can help do that for another child and another family, I’ve got no hesitation,” he added.
The fundraiser is the brainchild of Football Wagga Wagga development officer and good mate of Mick’s Liam Dedini.
It was initiated last year with almost $10,000 raised and the football association is hoping to smash that this year.
Already, Mick has almost $900 pledged to him personally through an Everyday Hero page.
Initially, Mick set a target of $700, however this was exceeded within hours of him creating the page, leading to him creating a new goal of $1500.
All clubs in the association are being asked to nominate someone to step up to the beautician’s table to be waxed.
In Cootamundra, the Strikers have thrown their support behind the fundraiser and are currently seeking a candidate to lose their body hair for a cause .
The fundraiser is set down for December 15 at Gissing Oval in Wagga.
It promises to a fun day for an amazing cause which changes lives.
